This class is designed to help anyone who is new to meditation, or who may be considering meditation, gain an understanding of its benefits as well as a basic knowledge of how to practice insight meditation (vipassana), or mindfulness. Simple, easy to follow instructions will be given, followed by a 20 minute period of teacher-guided meditation practice. After the meditation there will be time for questions and discussion. Meditation instructions will address common challenges experienced by meditators, including working with physical discomfort, difficult emotions, and knowing how to find ongoing support for positive outcomes.

Introduction to Meditation is a one hour drop-in (no registration required) program with BMC’s founder and guiding teacher, Chris Crotty. The class is open to anyone. No experience is necessary. The class will also help students with experience to further their understanding of the basic ‘building blocks’ of mindfulness, or insight meditation.

This class will be offered freely, with the request that those who can donate do so, to enable BMC to keep our organizational trains running during this period. You may donate via our website here or on Venmo @boston-meditation-center.
